Played and finished it, it did'nt take long.
I ENJOYED playing this but, importantly, WOULD NOT PLAY IT AGAIN.

    Bad
The cover system has been done a lot better. Dont stand next to a column as the avatar points the gun at the roof -- bad when unfriendly shotguns will cut you in two.
The enemies in later levels walk away from double taps to the head.
The AI scripting is obvious and repetitive.
There is lip service to stealth but the AI are mostly psychic Jedi types.
There are credits at the start and end of the film, I meant game, really. Honest. The end credits are about 20 mins long, you can't skip them. Thanks for that.If the game was any good I would have read them.
The cut scenes give character but are too intrusive in the game play. At least allow people to skip them if they have - you know -- paid for arthouse wannabe pretentions.

    OK
In terms of installation the standard version .exe would not launch the compulsory... Read more

    2.0 out of 5 stars Rockstar didn't get it, 3 Jun 2012

I've never written a review on here before but after witnessing this travesty I had to say something about this game. Normally a Rockstar game is a seal of quality for me and don't get me wrong - the production values on this game are great. However when it comes to the gameplay I can tell you that Rockstar really didn't get it.

Max Payne was meant to make you feel powerful in a Matrix kind of way. What Rockstar have done is put too much of their own crap into it. You spend most of your time watching cut scene after cut scene after cut scene. Then in the middle of these cut scenes you get a little bit of gunplay - frustrating gunplay at that. Often when a cutscene finishes it puts you straight in the battle in harms way and max doesn't respond for precious seconds while bad guys have already started shooting at you. So your health has diminished before you've even started. (I'm only playing on medium difficulty by the way) Then to make matters worse when max lands on the... Read more

    4.0 out of 5 stars Technical Masterpiece - but..., 1 Jun 2012
    = Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Max Payne 3 (PC DVD) (DVD-ROM)
Technically, Max Payne 3 is a Masterpiece. The graphics are the best I've ever seen. It flows seamlessly from cut scene to game play and back again - you don't even notice when it's changed. And it runs like a dream, not a stutter, not a dropped frame, it just works.

The movement of characters and the attention to detail have to be seen to be believed, the graphics are stunning. It's like a film where you keep taking control of the central character.

    But...

Is it a good game ? Do I want to keep playing it ? Can I turn my PC off ? Like a book, is it a page-turner ?

No, I don't think it is. Something is missing somehow - there's no real game play. It's like you think you are in control, but in reality, just like a film, you are just following the script and nothing you do makes any odds at all.
